Nata nel 2022 e spinta dai capitali di PDD Holdings (la stessa societ\u00e0 madre del colosso cinese Pinduoduo), l&#8217;app \u00e8 esplosa in Occidente grazie a una mastodontica e costosissima campagna pubblicitaria durante il Super Bowl del 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Il segreto dei suoi prezzi imbattibili risiede nel modello Consumer-to-Manufacturer (C2M). Invece di produrre enormi scorte in anticipo, Temu sfrutta i dati degli utenti per testare micro-lotti di prodotti, eliminando i costi di magazzino e gli intermediari.<\/p>\n<p>Questo sistema, tuttavia, ha un lato oscuro. I produttori cinesi sono costretti a lavorare con margini microscopici e a competere in aste spietate, sacrificando qualit\u00e0 e sicurezza. Inoltre, per anni Temu ha aggirato i dazi doganali spezzettando gli ordini, sebbene oggi stia integrando venditori terzi locali per accorciare i tempi di spedizione in Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Attualmente, l&#8217;azienda opera in grave perdita, bruciando decine di dollari per ogni singolo ordine spedito. L&#8217;obiettivo non \u00e8 il profitto immediato, ma conquistare quote di mercato e annientare la concorrenza occidentale, finanziando le perdite con gli enormi ricavi generati da Pinduoduo in Cina.<\/p>\n<p>Le preoccupazioni maggiori riguardano per\u00f2 la psicologia e la privacy. L&#8217;app sfrutta tecniche tipiche del gioco d&#8217;azzardo, come la scarsit\u00e0 artificiale e gli sconti fittizi, per indurre acquisti compulsivi, tanto da finire sotto la lente della Commissione Europea per rischio di dipendenza.<\/p>\n<p>Ancora pi\u00f9 allarmanti sono le scoperte di enti indipendenti come Grizzly Research.
