Warm over function is a tale as old as time in interior design. Your home can look beautifully designed and still have layout problems that no amount of decorating will fix. As an interior designer and space planner with over 20 years of experience and hundreds of floor plans designed, layout problems are the number one thing I correct for clients. And almost all of them are avoidable.
In this video I walk through the 10 most common layout mistakes I see, why they happen, and exactly how to fix each one. We cover living room focal points that limit your options, the floating furniture myth most designers get wrong, dining table clearances based on actual human dimensions, chandelier sizing rules that most people skip, kitchen island spacing that architects and builders still get wrong, refrigerator placement in the work zone, bedroom window and headboard conflicts, door swing problems that fight you every single day, closet windows, and why laundry placement matters more than most people think.
If your home feels off but you cannot pinpoint why, chances are one of these ten things is the culprit.
