Can you control your ejaculatory reflex?

Learning how to control our ejaculatory reflex is essential for overcoming premature ejaculation. But a reflex happens automatically, right?

If you’ve struggled with lasting longer, you’ll know that controlling and delaying ejaculation is easier said than done.

The concept of getting stronger and taking control appeals to us guys. No doubt you’ve seen exercises for building up pelvic floor muscles to gain control over our bodies during sex. There’s a myth going round that premature ejaculation is caused by a ‘weak’ PC muscle.

It’s healthy to do kegels and build pelvic muscle awareness, but a lot of guys find that they still come quickly. This leads to frustration, and sometimes a determination to work harder, to get stronger, to power through sexual performance.

In this video, I explain why this approach is self-defeating. When performance anxiety ramps up, we’re more likely to come sooner or lose our erection completely.

The reality is that no matter how many kegels we do, the ejaculatory reflex doesn’t come with a brake pedal. It is a process of the autonomic nervous system, and we just don’t have that level of control.

So what can we do? Using examples of other physical functions such as blinking and breathing, I explain the true nature of conscious bodily control. I describe the hacks that are available to us, particularly when it comes to slowing down our sexual acceleration. Indirectly, you have much more control than you probably realise.

The RAM approach to overcoming premature ejaculation is particularly effective: relaxed, aware and moving. We can learn how to easily switch to a more relaxed state, lower our stress levels around sex and soak up intense physical pleasure.

By learning how to move optimally during sex, there’s no need for powering through. This is good news for our partners too.
